THE JOB

The Japan video journalist is core to our coverage. The role is extremely varied, including breaking news and feature pieces.

The Video journalist films and edits compelling, varied and accurate coverage from across Japan and will shoot numerous events Live, nurture and reinforce our network of freelancers and third-party providers in Japan. The video journalist is also expected to generate original, imaginative and lively feature and focus stories.

Reaching younger audiences is central to our coverage and the successful candidate will be packed with bright multimedia ideas that boost the file.

THE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have extensive experience producing short-format hard news and feature packages for broadcast, cable networks or agencies.

The video journalist will be a good team player in an international workplace, able to spot and report stories of interest to AFP’s clients around the world.

The news flow can be very heavy at times, and the successful candidate must be able to work under pressure. They must be prepared to work flexible hours when needed, including weekends.

Candidates should have an interest in social media and participate in social networking on a voluntary basis.

The successful candidate must have native English written skills and knowledge of Japanese language is highly desirable.
