Photojournalism: The “Marai Photo Grant” is back, with the 2025 edition focused on raising awareness about climate change

After a three-year hiatus, the “Marai Photo Award” becomes the “Marai Photo Grant” in 2025. The award is organised by Agence France-Presse in honour of Shah Marai, former photo chief at AFP in Kabul. Shah Marai, who was an inspiration for Afghan photographers throughout his career, was killed in the line of duty at the age of 41 in a suicide attack on April 30, 2018 in Kabul.

FACTSTORY, AFP’s audiovisual production subsidiary, coproduces historical mini-series for Arte: Vasa, the Ghost Ship

The 2x52’ mini-series, available from 25 November on arte.tv and broadcast on 2 December on Arte. It is a FACTSTORY/SEPPIA coproduction for Arte and the Swedish channel SVT with the participation of TVP and Histoire TV.

Seven more news agencies join the European Newsroom (enr) of which AFP is a partner

The European Newsroom (enr) is pleased to welcome seven new members. Now, a total of 23 news agencies from Europe are involved in the new round of the cooperation project. The European Newsroom, initiated in 2022, aims to strengthen collaboration among agency journalists across Europe and to enhance coverage of EU-related subjects. The new additions are AMNA (Greece), ANP (Netherlands), CTK (Czech Republic), PAP (Poland), Lusa (Portugal), Ritzau (Denmark) and TT (Sweden).
