ROLE

The Asia Pacific region is looking for a photo editor to be part of a dynamic team in New Delhi which handles South Asia’s photo production.

New Delhi has a photo desk which handles the work of our photo network across India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bhutan.

The successful candidate will select, edit, write captions and validate the diverse production to AFP clients worldwide. The editor must monitor the news, features and sport events that could be of interest to AFP and follow up with the photographers to guarantee the quality production that is AFP’s trademark. Close collaboration with the video, text, graphics and digital verification departments is essential.

The editor will have to ensure the reliability of events covered and respect for the agency's editorial policy. Applicants should expect to contribute to AFP’s social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, and its various multimedia products.

The job requires flexibility in terms of hours. Shared late shifts and weekends are part of the desk routine as it is with other editorial services.

REQUIREMENTS

You have experience in news photo editing and you are proficient with Adobe Photoshop software.

You have excellent English language skills (Hindi would be a plus), a strong proven interest in global affairs and are capable of working well within a team.

You have an interest in social media and participate in social networking (Facebook, Twitter, etc). The post requires strong writing and editing skills, and an ability to produce rapid, well-edited photos in real-time deadlines. Photo shooting skills are a plus.

You must also have excellent news judgment and be equally able editing general news, economic, thematic and sports images. Experience in covering sports will be a serious advantage.

Applicants need to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure.
