Roman Pilipey and Luis Tato awarded at the 2024 Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar

AFP photojournalists Roman Pilipey and Luis Tato received multiple awards at the 2024 edition of the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, held on 16 November.


Pilipey, AFP’s Photo Coordinator in Ukraine, received an honourable mention and secured first place in the General News category. He also won second place in the Feature Picture Story category.

AFP photographer Said Khatib wins the Mingote Prize in Spain

Said Khatib was awarded the prestigious Mingote Prize on Thursday in Madrid, in the presence of King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia, for a photograph taken in the Gaza Strip in October 2023.


AFP photojournalist Said Khatib, who managed to leave Gaza last April, has won the Mingote Prize, which is awarded annually by ABC.

This prize is among the most prestigious for journalists in Spain and is rarely awarded to a non-Spanish speaker.

3 Merit of Excellence entries for AFP in Hong Kong's Press Photographers Association

AFP photographer Philip Fong and freelancer Bertha Wang were awarded "Merit of Excellence" achievements by the Hong Kong Press Photographers Association's annual competition earlier this month.


The Hong Kong-based association was established in 1989, today represents more than 100 photographers working across the city and beyond.

‘Inside Gaza’ documentary project wins two awards at Sunny Side of the Doc Festival

The documentary project Inside Gaza, co-produced by FACTSTORY and AFP, was awarded the ‘Best Global Issues Pitch’ at the 35th Sunny Side of the Doc Festival in La Rochelle on 25 June.


The project also received the special AJD Industry Days Award, which includes 2 accreditations to attend the third edition of the Al Jazeera Documentary (AJD) Industry Days, scheduled from 14 to 16 September 2024, in Sarajevo.
