Oli Scarff honoured at British Sports Journalism Awards (SJA) 2022

AFP photographer Oli Scarff was honoured at the British Sports Journalism Awards (SJA) 2022.


Oli Scarff has won the award of Best News Picture for his shot of USA's coach Andrea Fuentes rescuing USA swimmer Anita Alvarez from the bottom of the pool during an incident in the women's solo free artistic swimming finals, during the World Aquatics Championships at the Alfred Hajos Swimming Complex in Budapest, Hungary on June 22, 2022.

AFP awarded at NPPA's 2023 "Best Of Photojournalism Competition"

The NPPA (National Press Photographers Association) Awards have honoured AFP photographer Luis Tato with three prizes in the Science, Science Story and Politics Story categories.


Based in Kenya, Luis Tato covers eastern Africa for AFP. The photographer has been honoured with the first prize in the Science category for his picture of elephant keeper Kiapi Lakupanai playing with two elephant calves in Reteti Sanctuary, at Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, Kenya, on October 12, 2022.

Dakar 2023: Franck Fife wins the Emilie-Poucan photo contest

The jury composed by pilots and the Dakar Director David Castera awarded the Émilie-Poucan Prize to Franck Fife for the best aerial photographic coverage.


The winning picture was taken during the prologue of the Dakar 2023 by the Red Sea in Yanbu.

AFP Participates in Project Leveraging AI to Combat Climate Misinformation

AFP, in association with the European Fact-Checking Standards network (EFCSN) and other European stakeholders, announces the launch of a project to improve the capacities of European fact-checking organisations to tackle crisis situations. It is called FactCRICIS (European Fact-Checking Response in Climate Crises), co-funded by the European Union.
